TEETH WHITENING

Safe, effective and fast with
long lasting white results

Teeth whitening involves bleaching your teeth to make them lighter. It can’t make your teeth brilliant white, but it can lighten the existing colour by several shades.

Chairside bleaching usually requires only one office visit. The dentist will apply either a protective gel to your gums or a rubber shield to protect your gums. Bleach is then applied to the teeth.

GOT QUESTIONS, CHECK FAQ

Teeth are not naturally white. They are a pearly shade that gradually turns more yellow as you age, no matter how good your oral hygiene. You see this first when a baby’s snow-white teeth are replaced by permanent teeth that are, by nature, more yellow in colour. As we get older, the outer layer of enamel on the teeth wears down and exposes the dentin layer of the teeth, which is more yellow. Over the years, tartar and wear-and-tear stains appear and can darken the colour of teeth.

Whitening has been proven to be safe and effective, and whether you have a professional procedure done at the dentist’s office, most whitening treatments rely on the same bleaching agents.

Results can last at varying lengths depending on your genes, lifestyle and oral hygiene, but in general, they can last for up to a year. Top up treatments every 3-6 months (or as prescribed by your clinician) will help maintain a beautiful sheen, especially if you smoke or drink coffee or tea.
A naturally white smile is a wonderful asset anyone can have. Ideally, the color of your teeth should match the whites of your eyes.
Caring for newly whitened teeth is easy! Maintain proper oral hygiene – brush your teeth twice a day and floss once daily using a fluoride toothpaste. Get your teeth cleaned every 6 months or as recommended by your dentist or hygienist. To maintain the white color of your teeth, avoid acidic and dark-colored foods and beverages like tea, coffee, red wine, sports drinks, carbonated drinks and sauces like tomato, soy and curry.
